The Designer
The M Lamp, Juniper’s first product, was designed by David Irwin. He believed in his vision to create a minimal cordless lamp that carries luxury anywhere it is situated. He pitched his innovative idea to Juniper’s founder, Shant Madjarian, at International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) until it was developed into the M Lamp that it is today.
The Inspiration
David grew up in Newcastle Upon Tyne, a city that is reflective of industrial aesthetics & the mining industry. Turning to his hometown for inspiration, David introduced a design that does not only uphold a stunning design, but also bears meaning and purpose. He reconceptualized his inspiration of the 19th-century miners’ lamp and transformed it into a handy lighting solution that exemplifies modern design.
M Lamp’s Features
When the M Lamp was first released, the head lamp only turned up and down, and the power button featured a heat sensor for touch capabilities. Juniper has since released a second generation M Lamp that now showcases a 360° rotating head and a push power button to signify on-dim-off controls more clearly for the user. The M Lamp is an on-the-go solution supported by a slender lantern handle. With its on-dim-off button sitting atop the lamp’s aluminum body, the M Lamp can be utilized as task lighting for duties that require direct lighting or as accent lighting to add depth to any residential, commercial, or hospitality space. This portable lamp flaunts a long-lasting battery that can be easily recharged to use the M Lamp for reading, adorning a bedside table, or accent shelving lighting.
